Why do public schools get more material on schools than black? Tell me, white men, where are our opportunities
When I'm in the city, the gym is mediocre. The toilets have been unsuccessful because the tissue is hard and the toilet seats are broken, writing on the wall. The walls are wrinkled and the mirror is broken. No buckets for towels or tampons. The floor is dirty and smells the coffee shop barf. The food is second class, and I teach very little. My books are 5 years old and many activities are not offered at my school. We learn only offer basketball or football! NO ONE CALLS MY ART but my mother, rather than discourage them me! Our teams suck. Spit, chewing gum and garbage everywhere! But when I welcome you to Newton, or some suburb, the first thing I feel. The bathroom have new walls, mirrors, music, soft tissue, toilet MINTS AND ALSO! The training is very competitive. The books are up to date. The food is first class. You have things such as lacrosse, ice skating, fencing, martial arts, tennis and woodworking. They play national games. Their teams are better. It is "not a lick of TRASH!
As a white girl who was poor, I do not see that as much as a race problem – rather I see it as an economic issue. Unfortunately, with the nation's history (including of discrimination and oppression) at this time a large part of non-whites are in a lower economic bracket. Is it right? no. Is there something that a quick solution? Not in my opinion. I also think that in many districts there is a defeatist attitude to their community. The "We already live in the ghetto so their manure. We can leave out garbage, we can tag walls, etc. "So maybe those people who live there (any color) not to try to keep the neighborhood in as good condition as perhaps a community that starts out in good condition. Do you? Its easier to keep something beautiful, as it FIX it and make it beautiful. So unfortunately there are people who are stuck in communities that are not the best and now they live with having to "fix" something, rather than in a position where they already have the upper hand. (eg:. to begin a "nice neighborhood), but as I said, I do not see it as much as a race issue, it is an economic Problem in my experience.
