ways to make and interesting texture on paper?
i want to make my art book look more interesting.
something you’d just want to feel
and it’ll be like “woah, let me feel it again!”
i also want to MAKE it.

One each technique I like to use is rubbing. To create an overall pattern: Find a surface that has a raised pattern such as pegboard or a corrugated cardboard or even metal. Affix the paper to the surface so it won’t slip around. Rub the surface with a chalk, pastel, charcoal, graphite or such. The amount of pressure determine the texture and how predominate the color and texture is embossed or de-bossed onto and into the surface of the paper.
Another technique for pastels is to prepare the paper with a thin coat of gesso and then while wet sprinkle sand on the surface. The sand can even be colored and this adds “tooth” to the surface that can hold pigment.
